When the first compter was invented, it was extremely large and was only able to do the simplest tasks. The computer has changed drastically over the past few decades including its size, functions and complexity. After talking leanring about how hard it was to deal with computers when they first came out, it makes me happy that I have grown up in the generation where computers are a lot easier to use and much easier to maintain.

Idealism vs Realism

Posted in Uncategorized           1 Comment »

I think that I would see myself as more of a idealist. Even though I do share qualities of both, I feel like I try to see either the best or the worst in a situation. For example, when I  am texting someone new and feel like we forming a connection, I begin to think of all the fun times and things we could do together instead of seeing it as me talking to a new person. Another example would be that I believe that all people are good, sometimes even when they continually prove that they aren’t. I am the person who will keep being friends with someone even though the constantly keep disappointing me.

I think that the way you portray the message you are giving is a huge part of how to get your point across in the best way. Using the right medium can show someone how much you care for them. For example, writing a letter to a friend who’s away at college or lives in another state is a great way to keep your friendship from “dying”. The right medium can also show that you are professional and not a child. By using the right format when writing a business letter or memo to a CEO or head of your department, it can show that you take your job seriously and you aren’t just wasting your time and playing games on your computer the whole time.

For some people, it is hard for them to get distracted while completing a task while others are distracted quite easily. It is believed that miliennials are the most frequently distracted since they have grown up with technology. It is true that some of us are easily distracted by a buzzing phone or a useless commercial on a TV but I think that you also have to consider that it also needs to be put into consideration that diagnosis of ADHD in kids and young adults has continued to increase since the early 2000s. So yes, I believe that miliennials are more prone to being distracted but I think there are more reasons besides the fact that we’ve grown up in a technological age to be the cause of that distractedness.

Loudness of Music

Posted in Uncategorized           No Comments »

It’s weird how easily you can notice the differences between the loudness of current music versus music from the 50s and 60s when someone points it out. Before taking this class, I would have never noticed any differences between the two besides one was half a centuries old. I think it’s cool that you can hear the difference in loudness between the two but I dont think there is any specific reasoning to current music being more compressed. Yes, it makes listening to music with headphones or earbuds easier on our ears but that is still not a reason why it became so compressed. It doesn’t mean that singers now are less talented than singers from 50 years ago, just that music is evolving and changing with time. Maybe in another 50 years, music will go back to being less compressed and more dynamic or it could be totally different, you never know.
